How to Handle Imposter Syndrome as a Professional Leader

Mar 13, 2020 | Podcast

If you’ve ever suffered from “imposter syndrome” or feeling like a fraud as a professional leader, today’s episode is for you.

Regardless of where you are in your career path, imposter syndrome can derail your confidence and your ability to stay on track.

How do I know? I’ve been there. In the episode, I talk about a time (back in 2013) I painted the picture on social media that I was “happy” and “having fun”.

#truthbetold I was in a pretty dark place. It was a time in my life that I felt like the only way people would value me or respect me was to be perfect.

On the surface, I held it together as a strong, professional leader. Behind the scenes, I was so insecure and constantly doubted myself.

Before too long, I had found myself at a crossroads (a-hem, rock bottom). Fortunately, my “rock bottom” was a gift. It forced me to reach out for support in turning my life around.

I share a bit of my story in this episode because this was the shift in me breaking up with my “imposter syndrome” tendencies.

This shift also helped me get to the root of why I lacked confidence and gave me the courage to stand up for myself…in all aspects of my life and career.

Of course, there are a few tips to help you handle imposter syndrome. Keep in mind, you don’t have to do all these things, at once.

Also, keep in mind, the things I share with you today won’t completely change your life tomorrow. #truthbombmoment Imposter syndrome will show up from time to time, there more you “level-up”. That means, what I share with you today is just the beginning.

For those of you who want to create a lasting transformation for your confidence and self-esteem, read this article.
