In this episode, we have invited Alex Street to share with you how to stand out with your story. He is as an actor, youth pastor, public speaker, and coach for more than 20 years. Alex knows firsthand how powerful storytelling is for personal development and business strategy. He has coached TEDx speakers, bestselling authors, and seven-figure coaches to find out find their WHY rooted in their signature story.

Key Takeaways from my chat with Alex:

  • Alex’s most curious about outside work: Alex is most curious about consistency with his own rhythm. He has never been somebody to stick to a routine. Alex says he’s a “go-with-the-flow” type of guy who loves to explore.
  • How Alex makes an impact through his work and his inspiration: When we’re truly trying to go forward with a clear goal and mission, we can’t just tell a story that comes to mind. We really do need to get clear on what’s the signature story. Be sure to share the main thing that brought you to where you are today. Ultimately, what’s going to make us care is understanding what makes you care about this.
  • Where Alex gets the most success: Admittedly, Alex has a tendency to look at all the different shiny objects and all the opportunities, potentials out there and see what could happen. In the last two years, it has been an effort and a journey for him to zone in and get from the bigger to the smaller picture.  Once he got clear on his story, then he knew what his focus was going to be towards.
  • What are some common mistakes people are making when they’re first starting and some ways to remedy them? There are two that show up a lot of the time. The first one is not going back far enough and the second one is telling your story as titles. You have to realize that your audience has no idea what led you to this point. Sharing your story opens a loop your audience is desperately curious about. Alex encourages you to go back into your story and tell your audience who you were at the beginning.
  • Book recommendation: Start With Why by Simon Sinek. For Alex, when it comes down to knowing why your story is important, it’s because it is your why in your business.

How to work with Alex:

Alex’s main focus is his Fearless Speakers Academy. It is an incredible community where we get to encourage each other and take our speaking skills to the next level. This community is all about helping leaders communicate with more confidence, speak with more clarity, and land more speaking gigs.
